A woman in Cork has suffered serious injuries following a road traffic collision on the N28 in Carr’s Hill.

Gardai confirmed that the incident, which involved a car and a truck, occurred today at 1.30pm. It is understood at least one more vehicle was involved.

The female driver of the car, aged in her 50s, was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where her condition was described as “serious but stable”, with no further injuries reported.

The N28 between the Shannon Road roundabout in Carrigaline and the Bloomfield Interchange in Douglas remains closed, with local diversions in place.

The road is expected to reopen later this evening.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have completed a technical examination of the scene.

A spokesperson for the Gardai said: “An Garda Síochána is aware that there are images related to this serious road traffic collision in circulation through group chat and on social media.

“This is an ongoing investigation and out of respect for those involved, please do not forward or share.” 

Members of the Gardai in Togher are appealing to any road users who were travelling on the N28 between 1pm and 1.45pm, who may have camera footage of the incident, to make this available to them.
