A CORK man, who was invited to meet US President Joe Biden at the White House, says he used the visit as an opportunity to tell him of the impact that his advocacy has had on him.

Jamie Googan, from Clonakilty, lives with a stutter and is co-founder of Stuttering Awareness Mental Wellbeing Ireland and a board member of The World Stuttering Network.

Mr Googan established SAMWI during 2020 in the hopes of improving the quality of life of those who are living with a stutter.

He was invited to meet with the US President during a special visit last month and said he used the opportunity to “thank him for the hope and inspiration that he provides so many young people with.”

“I finally got to tell him a little of the impact that his advocacy has had on me,” he said.
