Sensei cafe owners to open Filipino eatery in Cork

A CORK couple has opened a Japanese and Filipino concept dining experience at Ballincollig’s Castlewest Shopping Centre.

Mayumi, spearheaded by the team behind Sensei Coffee & Sushi Cafe in Cork city centre, is to open on April 28.

Founded by Ballincollig locals, Chenny Dimaandal and Ryan Lumor, Mayumi is a space where diners can explore new flavours and learn about the rich culinary traditions of both Japan and the Philippines.

Filipino cuisine, known for its mix of sweet, sour, and salty flavours, will offer traditional dishes, such as Crispy Pata, Sisig, and Ube Ice Cream.

Dimaandal and Lumor, who are from the Philippines, made their mark on Cork’s culinary scene in 2021, with the success of their original venture, ultimately leading them to open Mayumi. The couple’s goal is to share their heritage while continuing to serve up the Japanese dishes that Cork has grown to love.
