CORK Airport welcomed French rugby stars through arrivals this morning ahead of the European Rugby Champions Cup quarter-final clash this weekend.

The La Rochelle squad, headed by former Ireland fly-half and Cork man Ronan O’Gara, landed off a chartered flight from Paris shortly after 11am.

The team is believed to be staying at Cork’s five star Fota Island Resort ahead of their upcoming game against Leinster on April 13.

Among those travelling through the terminal was head coach O’Gara, who could be seen in a post shared by Cork Airport on social media.

The quarter final fixture will take place at the Aviva Stadium from 5:30pm, and will see both teams battle it out in a highly anticipated rematch for the win.

O’Gara also shared a snap from the runway upon landing with the caption: “Home sweet home.”

Commenting on the teams’ arrival, Communications Manager at Cork Airport, Barry Holland said: “After a long journey from Cape Town to Cork via Paris, it was a pleasure to welcome the squad this morning as they prepare for their Champions Cup quarter-final clash against Leinster this weekend.”

The La Rochelle squad beat the Stormers 22-21 in Cape Town on Saturday, solidifying their shot at the quarter finals in Dublin.
