Cork family share plans for €500,000 Euromillions prize
A Cork family made the trip up to Dublin to collect their prize after buying the ticket in a shop in Castletownroche.
A large Cork family recently made the trip to Dublin to collect a €500,000 prize that they won in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday 22 March.
They purchased their winning ticket at Downey’s Spar on the Main Street in Castletownroche, and said “You never think your ticket will be the one to win but here we are and we already know exactly what we’ll be doing with the windfall.
“We’re a big family so of course we’re all at different stages of life so the main goal is to put the money to good use and clear mortgages and loans - it’s a massive weight off being able to do that and something I think everyone dreams of doing.
“The next plan is a family holiday – sure we have to do something to celebrate together!”
They said that the weekend of the win felt like the longest wait of their lives, explaining, “We checked the ticket on the Friday night after the draw but in no way did we believe it so it wasn’t until we rang Claims on the following Monday morning and they confirmed the win that we actually believed.
“We missed a weekend of celebrating there but we’ll certainly make up for it! We are just thrilled to hand over the ticket and finally have the cheque ready to put to good use.”
With just hours to go until tonight’s EuroMillions draw, the National Lottery are reminding players to purchase tickets ahead of the 7.30pm cut-off time for sales in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie.
If the estimated €75 million jackpot is won in Ireland tonight, the potential winner would take the title of 18th EuroMillions jackpot winner ever to be seen in Ireland since the game launched here in 2004.
