THE World Malayalee Council invites the people of Cork to experience an evening of Indian culture and to join them to celebrate Easter and Vishu.

Vishu is celebrated in the Kerala State of South Indian and officially marks the start of the Kerala new year. To celebrate, The Cork Malayalee Council are today, Saturday, April 6, organising a social, networking and multicultural event called Blossoms 2024 for both Easter and Vishu.

Blossoms 2024 will take place in Togher GAA Hall this evening at 5pm and promises to be a colourful display of culture for all. The social event is open to all communities and is inclusive of families and children.

With the purchase of each ticket, guests will be able to enjoy a four-course traditional Indian meal prepared by Douglas restaurant, Indian Spice Kitchen.

Previous Blossoms events have seen an array of colour and culture. Attendees will not only experience rich Indian culture but also many of the other community groups from across Cork. There will be performances from other communities such as Chinese (UCC Confucius Institute), Mexican (Amdie Anahuac Mexican Dance Ireland), Irish (Mary McCarthy Irish School of Dancing), Aatma Indian Dance Troupe, Anugraha Dance School of Bharatanatyam, Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, an Indian musical band called Daffodils, and many more. Families can also enjoy competitions such as an Easter egg hunt and a treasure hunt.

The Lord Mayor of Cork Kieran McCarthy, first secretary from the embassy of India Mr Murugaraj Damodharan, and social inclusion officer from Cork City Council, Kieran O’Connell, will also be in attendance on the evening as chief guests of the event.
