Lidl Ireland has confirmed plans for a new state-of-the art 2,493 sq. m retail store which will be accessed from Castlelake Avenue, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.

Lidl Ireland has announced plans for a new Cork store, creating 30 new jobs in the town and supporting 100 more during construction and development.

The company confirmed plans to build a new, state-of-the-art supermarket in Carrigtwohill as part of a multi-million-euro planned investment, part of the company’s series of store developments and expansion of its retail estate across Ireland, where it operates 179 stores.

When approved, the new store will expand Lidl’s network in County Cork to 23 stores and expand its Cork-based workforce of over 700 employees.

Lidl Ireland works with more than 100 Cork-based producers including Hassetts Bakery, Healy’s Honey, Keohanes Seafood and West Cork Distillers, procuring more than €129 million worth of goods and services from Cork-based suppliers in 2023.

The new Carrigtwohill site will see the construction of a new state-of-the-art 2,493 sq. m retail store which will be accessed from Castlelake Avenue, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.

Lidl Ireland’s wider plans for the site include the development of a 112-space car park, complete with electric vehicle (EV) charging points for customers and regenerative landscaping.

The store will prioritise sustainability and energy efficiency with a range of environmentally friendly features.

Lidl Ireland Regional Managing Director, Tara O’Connor, said, “We’re thrilled to progress plans to create a new state-of-the-art store for the residents of Carrigtwohill, providing the local community and beyond with even more access to high-quality products at best-value prices.

“Carrigtwohill is undergoing real regeneration at the moment, with Cork County Council’s Urban Regeneration and Development Fund initiative sparking inward investment and facilitating rapid population growth as the town becomes an increasingly attractive place to live, work and invest.

“This growth is only set to continue, and the new Lidl Carrigtwohill store is a strategically important location for us, bringing a multi-million-euro investment and new jobs to the local area and providing residents with a new shopping facility.”
