THE body of a woman found at her home in Cork city on Friday has been moved to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a postmortem examination.

Emergency services were called to a house at Sarsfield Terrace on the northside of the city on Friday after the body of a woman who is understood to be in her 50s was found at the property.

Gardaí confirmed on Saturday morning that local scenes of crime officers (SOCOs) had preserved the scene for examination and that the body of the woman was moved to CUH.

“The scene is preserved for examination by local scenes of crime officers. The body of the woman has been moved to Cork University Hospital,” a garda spokesperson told The Echo.

The results of the postmortem will determine the course of the garda probe into the incident.
