Brittany Ferries marked the resumption of its Cork to Roscoff service this week with the announcement of the addition of new pet-friendly cabins onboard the Armorique.

The vessel made its first port of call of the tourist season to the Port of Cork on Wednesday, a little earlier than usual, a move the company said reflects its commitment "to meeting the growing demand for travel options between Ireland and France".

A spokesperson for Brittany Ferries said that following a winter refit, the Armorique now has 18 new pet-friendly cabins for the first time, “significantly enhancing the capacity for passengers travelling with their beloved pets”.

Last year, 75,000 pets accompanied their owners while traveling on Brittany Ferries’ vessels.

Previously, passengers' furry friends had to remain in the lower decks with vehicles during their crossing.

Each of the new pet-friendly rooms aboard the Armorique will feature easy access from the garage deck, laminate flooring and access to a dedicated pet promenade.

Commenting on the introduction of the pet-friendly cabins, General Manager at Brittany Ferries, Hugh Bruton said: “The addition of upgraded pet-friendly cabins on the Armorique ensures that our passengers enjoy a comfortable and convenient journey, with special consideration for those traveling with pets.”
