Funeral of six-year-old Matthew Healy to take place in Cork

The funeral mass for the young boy found dead in a car in Waterford last Friday will take place in Cork this week.
Matthew Healy was discovered in a car in the Dunmore East area shortly after midnight on Friday February 9, and was taken to Waterford University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A number of vigils were held for the young boy over the weekend, with the Department of Education saying that it is providing counselling services to the pupils in his school.
The family wrote on rip.ie this morning, “Matthew James Healy of Watergrasshill, Cork and Ballygunner, Waterford died on the 9th of February 2024 unexpectedly, aged 6 years.
The removal will take place in his home in Watergrasshill this evening and tomorrow evening, from 5pm to 8pm on both days.
Requiem Mass will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Watergrasshill on Wednesday February 14 at 12 noon, followed by a private service in The Island Crematorium Ringaskiddy.
The have asked for family flowers only, and added that donations, if desired, can be made to Make a Wish Foundation at www.makeawish.ie.
