'The realisation of a lifelong dream': Cork restaurant awarded second Michelin star

Chef Vincent Crepel, whose restaurant Terre at Castlemartyr resort has just been awarded a second Michelin star.

The team of Cork restaurant Terre are this evening celebrating receiving two Michelin stars at The Michelin Guide UK & Ireland awards ceremony in Manchester.

Gaining one star last year after just six months and now a second, Chef Patron Vincent Crepel and his kitchen team have made impressively quick work of crafting a bold, assuredly two stars experience, an exceptional achievement for the restaurant which first opened at Castlemartyr Resort in Cork in October 2022.

Chef Crepel said, “Being awarded the second Michelin star is the realisation of a lifelong dream and a wonderful elevation to receive from the inspectors.

“I am so proud of the team and what we have achieved. We have had a fantastic year and are looking forward to welcoming guests again in 2024.

“We aim to make a visit to Terre accessible to diners and we are fortunate to work with great local and international suppliers who help inspire and shape our menus.

“Receiving the second star is a tribute to the creativity and standards we aim to reach and maintain.”

The Terre menus are meticulously created boasting vibrant flavours and visual appeal and complexity, fusing traditional French cooking techniques with Asian ingredients.

Over the past 12 months, the team has won a number of awards, including Euro-Toques Young Chef of the Year 2023 for chef de partie Shauna Murphy, a credit to her mentorship under Chef Vincent and his acclaimed team, including Filip Palfi, the esteemed Terre Sommelier and Restaurant Manager.

Castlemartyr Resort General Manager Brendan Comerford said, “It has been a fantastic journey seeing Terre establish itself from inception to being awarded a second Michelin star.

“The work from the team in Terre is nothing short of superb; from menu development and the creation of the Terre biodynamic produce garden to the Taiwanese tea-pairing, making dining at Terre is a truly remarkable experience.

“Being awarded the second star is a fantastic recognition of the effort, hard work and creativity of Chef Vincent and his team.”

Terre is located in the 18th century Manor House at the five-star Castlemartyr Resort.
