Sneak peak of upcoming Young Offenders series in first look images 

First look images for the highly-anticipated upcoming series of The Young Offenders have been released.

While an official air date for the fourth series has yet to be announced, it is said to be “coming soon” to BBC One.

The new series, from producers Vico Films, follows on from the hugely successful previous three series which originally aired on BBC Three, the 2018 Christmas special which saw the show move to BBC One for the first time and the box office smash feature film from 2016.

The second and third series of The Young Offenders, filmed back-to-back in 2019, proved massive draws for audiences not only in Ireland and the UK, but across the world.

Last year it was announced that the BBC, in association with RTÉ, had recommissioned the hit comedy series.

“We’re over the moon to have been commissioned for Series 4 of the show on BBC One, and of course always grateful for the ongoing support of RTÉ," Cork man Peter Foott, creator of The Young Offenders, said speaking at the time. 

“Audiences have been asking for more of the journeys of these characters and we’re very excited to take the show in new directions for Series 4 and can’t wait to bring it back to TV screens.” 

Commissioning editor for BBC comedy, Ben Caudell, added:

“We’re so happy to have The Young Offenders back on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, so that viewers once again enjoy the adventures, and misadventures, of all these brilliant comic characters – they may not be quite so young, but they’re still very much offenders." 

The upcoming series is directed by Jamie Jay Johnson.
