Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision at Upper Cork Hill, Youghal, Co. Cork, yesterday evening. 

A man, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital following a collision in Cork for treatment for what has been described as "serious injuries". 

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision at Upper Cork Hill, Youghal, Co. Cork, yesterday evening. 

The collision, involving a car and a male pedestrian,happened at around 6.20pm.

A garda spokesperson said that the male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

"No other injuries have been reported at this time.

"The road is currently closed pending a technical examination and local diversions are in place," the spokesperson said. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6:00pm and 6:30pm, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí," they added.
