Cork actor Cillian Murphy has landed an Oscar nomination.

Murphy has been widely acclaimed for his performance as J Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist described as the father of the atomic bomb, in Christopher Nolan’s epic biopic Oppenheimer.

He has already been nominated for a Bafta and an SAG award for the performance, has won a Golden Globe and is considered to be a frontrunner to take home the best actor Academy Award.

The nominations were revealed this afternoon by Atlanta star Zazie Beetz and The Boys actor Jack Quaid.

The Oscars will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on March 10.

The best picture Oscar nominees are American Fiction, Anatomy Of A Fall, B arbie, The Holdovers, Killers Of The Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things and The Zone Of Interest.

Best actor

The nominees for the best actor Oscar are Bradley Cooper for Maestro, Colman Domingo for Rustin, Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers and Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction, as well as Cillian Murphy for Oppenheimer.

Best actress

The nominees for the best actress Oscar are Annette Bening for Nyad, Lily Gladstone for Killers Of The Flower Moon, Sandra Huller for Anatomy Of A Fall, Emma Stone for Poor Things, as well as Carey Mulligan for Maestro.

Best supporting actress

The nominees for the best supporting actress Oscar are Danielle Brooks for The Color Purple, America Ferrera for Barbie, Jodie Foster for Nyad and Da’Vine Joy Randolph for The Holdovers, as well as Emily Blunt for Oppenheimer.

Best supporting actor

The nominees for the best supporting actor Oscar are Sterling K Brown for American Fiction, Robert De Niro for Killers Of The Flower Moon, Robert Downey Jr for Oppenheimer, Ryan Gosling for Barbie and Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things.
