WORKERS at Cork University Hospital (CUH) and Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) are asking the public to join the Walk in Their Shoes initiative.

Walk in Their Shoes celebrates the hospitals’ hidden heroes while raising funds for vital services at both CUH and CUMH.

The event will take place from March 1 to March 31, in support of those who need the hospitals’ vital services. Funds raised will help enhance equipment, facilities, and services for both hospitals.

“They take thousands of steps every day,” said a spokesperson for CUH Charity.

“They do this so that your friends, family, and loved ones get the best care possible.

“This March, we invite you to celebrate the people who make a hospital run by walking in their shoes. You will match their daily step count for a month, while raising vital funds for CUH and CUMH.

“By taking up the challenge, you’ll support those in Munster who need the hospitals’ vital services. You’ll help enhance equipment, facilities, and services for both hospitals.”

Those who wish to get involved can choose the hospital worker whose steps they will match by clicking on their profile online to find out more about them.

Then, on their chosen hospital worker’s page, they can click the ‘Join Team’ button and set up a fundraising page for the challenge. In March, the aim is to complete the same number of steps as their chosen hospital worker
