The kind actions of one good Samaritan has enabled a young Cork woman to fly home for Christmas after an unfortunate mishap with her passport.
Chloe McMahon, who is originally from Passage West but has been living in New York for more than six years, was all set to return to Leeside until her friend's dog ate her passport.
Despite ordering a new passport and it arriving with her family, no courier could get it to New York in time for her to fly home on Wednesday.
Desperate to get home for Christmas, Chloe put a call out on The Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM to see if the people of Cork could assist her in her hour of need.
“This will be my first Christmas home in a few years so I really want to get home and spend it with my family,” she said.
Asked about the incident with her passport, Chloe explained that it happened when she visited a friend in Miami.
Her friend's dog took a shine to some sweet treats in her bag and the passport destruction was an unfortunate consequence.
Following the segment on air one listener, Marian, contacted the show.
She was heading to New York on the following afternoon's flight from Shannon to visit her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren and volunteered to bring Chloe’s passport.
Chloe’s sister dropped the passport over to Marian who lives in Carrigaline and Marian delivered the all-important document to Chloe at arrivals in JFK.
“I’m absolutely delighted. Marian is my hero,” Chloe said.
