Jobs boost for Carrigaline as Aldi opens new €10 million store

ALDI opened its 27th Cork store in Carrigaline on Thursday, creating 30 new permanent jobs.
The store on Old Pottery Road, Aldi's 161st in the country, was officially opened by Aldi Play Rugby ambassador Paul O'Connell and the local team including store manager Jason Murphy.
Since opening its first Cork store in Ballincollig in 1999, Aldi has invested more than €233 million in County Cork, employing more than 910 people and spending more than €30 million annually on their wages. In addition ALDI spent €70 million with its 30 Cork-based suppliers in 2022.
The company has also has invested €1.6 million in Cork under its Project Fresh initiative, which features in the Carrigaline store.
The spacious new 1,315sqm Carrigaline store incorporates wide aisles, new electronic shelf labels, 119 car parking spaces, 7 electric vehicle charging spaces and 12 bike parking spaces.
Designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, the store is powered by 100% green electricity and features 52 solar panels on the roof of the store, powering items including energy saving lights and new chiller fridges.
Store Manger Jason Murphy said at the opening: “I’m delighted to open our 27th store in Cork today - this new €10 million store in Carrigaline is the latest step in Aldi’s expansion programme.
“Households and families in Carrigaline and the surrounding areas can now shop at their local Aldi. Our promise to our Cork customers is that we’ll never be beaten on price, and we’ll always provide the best value when they shop with us.”
Paul O’Connell added: “It’s great to be part of such a big day for the town.

The opening hours for the Carrigaline store are 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday.
