Works likely to cause disruption to water supply and traffic on Cork's northside

The company said the works may cause water supply disruption to Buxton Hill, Sunday's Well, and surrounding areas in Cork City.

Works are likely to cause water supply disruptions and traffic issues on the northside of Cork city early next week, with a busy residential road closed to vehicular traffic, Uisce Éireann has warned.

The water utility company said the works, which are part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme, will begin at 9am and continue until 7pm on Monday, November 13.

The company said the works may cause water supply disruption to Buxton Hill, Sunday's Well, and surrounding areas in Cork City.

In a notice distributed to residents, Uisce Éireann has said that Buxton Hill will be closed to vehicular traffic, with the exception of emergency services, for the duration of the works.

“It would be greatly appreciated if all residents on Buxton Hill who need to exit the area on Monday could have their vehicles moved outside of the area in advance of the works commencing on Monday morning,” the company said.

As is its standard policy, the water utility company said it recommends that residents affected by the works allow two to three hours after the estimated restoration time for water supply to fully return.

Buxton Hill and surrounding areas in Sunday’s Well are among those which have been affected by intermittent instances of discoloured water in the drinking supply in recent months.

Updates on the planned works on Buxton Hill may be accessed on the Uisce Éireann website using the reference CCI00070184.
