Cork Kerry Community Healthcare (CKCH) has said a number of community health services in Midleton will run from alternative locations next week while remediation of the wider campus takes place following this week’s flooding.

Public health nursing clinics and appointments and the Wound Clinic will run from Carrigtwohill Primary Care Centre next week.

Home visits will continue if the roads are passable and phones are being diverted to Carrigtwohill.

The McAuley Day Centre will not be open next week, and people who usually use the service will be offered a place in either Mayfield or Cobh. Those affected are being contacted directly.

Those who were to attend dental services are being contacted to arrange an alternative location.

Physiotherapy appointments will run from St Raphael's Centre in Youghal.

"We are making efforts to contact anyone with appointments for any of these services,” a spokesperson for CKCH said.

We also wish to thank our staff and the other statutory agencies for their work and support in Midleton.

"Work will continue next week on cleaning up and on assessing the damage.”

On Thursday, CKCH said that a number of elderly residents who were affected by the flooding at Midleton Community Hospital have been safely relocated to Heather House at Saint Mary's Health Campus in Gurranabraher.

“We are grateful to all those involved in moving them quickly and calmly this morning [Thursday morning],” a spokesperson said.

“These residents will continue to be cared for by the same familiar team from Midleton Community Hospital.

“We also wish to thank our staff and the other statutory agencies for their work and support in the last 24 hours, which has allowed us to continue to safely care for the remaining residents on-site at Midleton Community Hospital.”

Residents of the Owenacurra Centre were also moved safely on Wednesday and are being accommodated nearby while the damage to the building is being assessed.

Again, we thank the team supporting them for their commitment to the residents and for providing continuous care.

“In relation to Midleton Community Hospital, we wish to acknowledge the huge effort by staff across the HSE to ensure that all residents are safe and cared for, despite the challenges.

“Finally, we wish to again thank An Garda Síochána, Cork County Council, the voluntary emergency services and colleagues from across the HSE for their assistance.”
