Tánaiste Micheál Martin & Seamus Coffey.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin sat down with University College Cork lecturer and former chairman of the Fiscal Advisory Council Seamus Coffey in the latest episode of his new podcast.

In the latest episode of the Fianna Fáil leader’s podcast In Conversation, Seamus Coffey, a lecturer in the Department of Economics at UCC, discussed a range of issues affecting ordinary people daily.

With Budget 2024 approaching, the discussion centred around issues including the high cost of living, the performance of the economy, and what should be prioritised next month to ensure the delivery of a progressive budget focused on delivering improvements for households, especially those with low- and middle-earners.

Mr Coffey offered his own assessment of the current Irish economy, touching on issues such as employment, inward migration and a growing population, and also discussed the threats and challenges that lie ahead, including current housing difficulties.

More episodes of In Conversation will be available later this year.
