Midleton photo book raises funds for the RNLI

The second iteration of ‘The Book’, composed of photos of the Midleton area was recently released.
The publication also includes stories about Midleton or east Cork from yesteryear and is a wholesome trip down memory lane.
The Facebook group ‘Midleton Mainistir na Corann’ collaborated on the project, which has over 8,000 members.
The first installment of The Book was released during the Covid-19 pandemic, which raised €17,300 for the Midleton Community Hospital.
The follow up of 'The Book’ has raised €11,100 for Ballycotton RNLI.
“There’s a lot of historical pictures in The Book.
“We decided to raise money for the Ballycotton RNLI with Volume Two, and we are delighted with the result,” said Ray O’Brien, one of the main organisers of The Book.
Ray also founded the Midleton Mainistir na Corann Facebook group during the pandemic.
The funds raised for the Ballycotton RNLI through the book were recently presented to Margie Houlihan and Gail Matson by Ray and Sheena O'Brien at the Garryvoe Hotel.
The Book was a massive hit with locals as “a lot of people bought it for presents for their kids that have gone abroad and it was great that the kids could keep up to date,” Ray concluded.
