Midleton's Gaelscoil pupils hitting our television screens this weekend

THE TALENTED pupils of Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann, Midleton will be gracing our television screens this Sunday evening, as they star in this week's episode of TG4 show Cleas Act.

Every week, the light-hearted show features talented kids from around the country with music and dance routines featuring ‘Seo Linn’.  In each episode presenters Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile and Stiofán Ó Fearail meet a different school from around the country, and tease out exactly what's going on with the school kids of Ireland.

Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann were fortunate enough to be selected to appear on the show, and welcomed a television crew into the school before Christmas. The crew filmed all aspects of life in the school, shining a light on the great facilities available to pupils since they moved into a state of the art new building in September.

The school choir were also taught a song by members of Seo Linn and under the direction of teachers Aisling Beecher and Neasa Ní Dhonnabhain, practiced it to ensure it was pitch perfect before recording it before a live studio audience in RTÉ's Dublin studios.

Ms Beecher says that the whole experience was a fantastic opportunity for the children, parents and staff, to see how a television programme is made.

"Everyone was so excited to be involved," she said.

"It was a great way to showcase the new school and the children loved the experience.

"A bus full of parents travelled to Dublin to support the children but not everyone could attend.

"Those who couldn't see it live can't wait to see the show on Sunday."

The show will be broadcast at 8pm tomorrow, but if you miss it don't despair. There will be another chance to see the talented pupils perform at their annual school musical, running for two nights in the school on March 29 and 30. Tickets are now on sale from the school office.
