Alert as Cork city car parking app hacked

HUNDREDS of users of Cork city’s park by phone app may have had confidential information stolen after it was confirmed that the app had been breached by hackers.

Investigations are underway to determine how the breach occurred, with operators Park Magic working with gardaí and the Data Protection Commissioner.

A statement issued on behalf of Park Magic last night confirmed that no personal bank account, credit card or debit card information had been accessed. It also confirmed that no account balances were altered and no passwords compromised.

However, mobile numbers may have been accessed.

“Please note that Park Magic will never contact you requesting your bank account or credit/debit card details,” the company added.
