Construction work is underway at the Tramore Valley Park building new internal roads ahead of the park's planned opening to the public this summer.

Work at the site on the Kinsale Road has ramped up significantly in recent weeks with roadworks being carried out to facilitate access.

"We are on course for a summer 2019 opening," a City Hall spokesperson said.

"We want it opened by early summer. We are reconfiguring the road entrance for people entering and exiting. The contractor is on site. The aim is to have it opened in May."

"On the way in we are segregating the traffic that is going to the recycling facility from those using the park. At the moment, there is one lane in and one lane out to the South Ring and we want to put a second lane that will allow two lanes out onto the road. It's overdue and we are very much looking to it opening," the spokesperson added.
