10-storey Victoria Road apartment development gets the go-ahead

One block will be 10 storeys in height, made up of 14 apartments while the second block will be six storeys with five apartments with a cafe unit on the ground floor.
PLANNING permission has been granted for a 10-storey apartment building on Victoria Road. Cork development company, Target Ark Ltd, lodged the plans in August for 19 apartments with ground floor restaurant and cafe.
The development will be located at 5 Victoria Road, next to Goldberg’s Bar, and backing on to the Navigation Square office development that is currently under construction.
The proposed development involves the renovation of the existing listed 19th-century warehouse structure and the demolition of the rear section to accommodate two new residential blocks.
One block will be 10 storeys in height, made up of 14 apartments while the second block will be six storeys with five apartments with a cafe unit on the ground floor.
Between the two blocks, it is proposed to create a pedestrian walkway which stretches from the rear of the development at Navigation Square to the front of the development on Victoria Road, passing through the warehouse.
“The development is designed to regenerate an underused building and intensify its use while retaining the character and built heritage of Victoria Road,” the developers said. To the rear of the planned development, construction of Navigation Square is almost complete.
