Crews from the Cork City Fire Brigade have brought the fire on the lower Glanmire Road under control.

However, the road will remain closed until further notice.

The alarm was raised when a fire broke out near Oscar’s Hostel on the Lower Glanmire Road.

Emergency Services, including several crews from the Cork fire services, attended the blaze.

At around 9.40am, an update on the Cork City Fire Brigade Twitter account said:

“Fire is now under control on the Lower Glanmire Road but the road will remain closed until further notice.”

In a statement on social media, Aircoach revealed that its service to Dublin will be delayed as a result of the fire.

"Due to an ongoing incident in Cork city centre our 9am service will be delayed by approximately one hour due to road closures.

"This may also cause delays with our later services also," the service warned.

"We apologise for this inconvenience caused during this time."
