Long traffic delays expected as emergency services deal with a two-car collision on the South Ring Road.

The N40 towards the Bloomfield Interchange on the South Link, Co Cork where an incident occurred today, Thursday, September 5.

A two-car collision on the N40 South Ring Road has resulted in considerable tailbacks in the area.

Speaking to the Echo, Gardaí said that emergency services had been at the scene, Junction 9, Eastbound, at Bloomfield, since 6.30pm and the crash would take at least an hour to clear.

The Cork City Fire Brigade are in attendance along with a number of ambulances according to eyewitnesses.

Motorists are being advised to take alternate routes and to expect delays with traffic building up around the area.

It is not clear if there have been any serious injuries at this time however Gardaí have said more information will be made available as the incident is brought under control.
