Witness appeal following two assault incidents in the city centre overnight
Anglesea Street Garda Station, where two assault incidents are being investigated overnight.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an assault and another alleged assault in the city centre last night and in the early hours of this morning.

An alleged assault took place just after 9pm on Patrick Street yesterday evening and a man in his 40’s was taken to Cork University Hospital.

His condition is being described as serious.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Patrick Street area from 8pm to 9:15pm and who may have witnessed any incident to contact them.

Gardaí have stressed that members of the public should make contact no matter how insignificant they think their information is.

A separate incident occurred on Grand Parade at around 12.15am this morning where a man in his late teens was taken to CUH with serious injuries.

A man in his early 20’s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Mayfield Garda Station under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021-452 2000, The Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
