In 2019, 265,438 visited the gallery on Emmett Place - an increase of 35,438 people from 2018.

Gallery Director Mary McCarthy noted that constant innovation has helped to achieve this success.

"We are delighted people are coming in to see our exhibitions, participate in our workshops and talks and to enjoy our cafe.

"Sunday openings have been hugely successful, with an average of 650 visitors every Sunday.

"Our collaborations with CIT Cork School of Music has also added another dimension to the first Sundays of every month," she told The Echo.

Last year was full of highlights for the Crawford, most notably the renewal of the Canova Casts in February.

As well as this, the gallery has had a number of engaging and interactive exhibitions and talks such as The Gibson Bequest 1919-2019: Selecting, Collecting and Philanthropy and Seen, Not Heard in the summer.

"Cork's changing demographic are well travelled and expect their gallery to stimulate and challenge," Mary said.
