Cork Operation Transformation leaders calling on the public to walk with them on Saturday
Barry and Andrea Rea from Ballinlough feature on this year's Operation Transformation.

THIS Saturday will see thousands of people across Ireland take part in the 2020 Operation Transformation Nationwide Walks with over 100 walks taking place across the country.

In Cork, there will be walks at two locations, CIT Athletics Track and Youghal GAA Club.

Both walks are 5km and kick off at 11am.

They are open to both the older and younger generations alike and people of all fitness levels are encouraged to take part in what is sure to be an enjoyable morning.

This year’s event, which has been organised in conjunction with Sport Ireland and the Local Sports Partnerships, hopes to be the biggest in the show’s 13-year history. Over 19,488 people took part in the Nationwide Walks in 2019 and RTÉ is hoping even more people will attend the 2020 events.

Widely regarded as one of the best health and fitness shows on television, Operation Transformation returned to our screens on Wednesday, January 8 and features three leaders from Cork.

Husband and wife duo, Andrea and Barry Rea have made history as the first couple ever to take part in the show.

The newlyweds, who hail from Ballinlough, are acting as separate leaders as they work hard to develop healthier lifestyles.

Also in this year's lineup is Tanya Carroll from Glanmire who is on a mission to kick her Coca Cola habit and develop a healthier diet and fitness routine.

All three Cork leaders will participate in Saturday's event.
