Free parking promotions set to continue in Cork city suburb
Douglas village

ON-street parking in Douglas is set to remain free for one hour for at least the next few months.

Cork City Council has been running various parking promotions in the village since a devastating fire at Douglas Village Shopping Centre last year.

The current promotion provides for an hour free parking, and that looks set to continue until May this year. The issue will be revisited then.

Cork City Councillors agreed at February’s full council meeting that the promotion remains in place.

However, people have been warned that there are also a number of other parking spaces in the Douglas Village area that are owned and controlled by private operators, and the offer of one-hour free parking doesn’t apply to those.

It’s understood that some private parking operators have been previously invited to take part in the City Council’s parking promotions in the area, however, the offer was not accepted.
