Two-hour free parking is set to continue in both of Cork City Council's city centre car parks.

The promotion was due to conclude at the end of August, however, it is set to continue until a review of the promotions has taken place.

A spokesperson for City Hall told The Echo: “Cork City Council is reviewing the present Covid-19 parking promotions in both North Main Street and Paul Street Multi Storey Car Parks.

"The present 2 hour free promotion will continue until this review has been completed, at which time further communications will issue.”

The introduction of free parking at both these locations, as well as on the street, came in March in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As on-street charges resumed, a decision was taken to continue with two-hour free parking in both North Main Street and Paul Street car parks "to support local business" and for people "to visit the tourist and cultural attractions which re-opened in July."
