Do the 6K your way - It's Mini Marathon day!

The Echo Mini Marathon Billboard at Kennedy Park

TODAY is The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon day and, even though the 2020 will be very different to other years, we are still encouraging everyone to register and run or walk the ‘6K Your Way’.

We are hoping that people will take part to help support the many Cork charities that depend on the event’s participants who raise much needed funds every year.

“For many of us, The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon is a highlight of our year,” editor Maurice Gubbins said.

“We love the sight of the thousands of runners and walkers lined up at the start. And we love hanging out in Kennedy Park as the competitors finish the course.

“Sadly, this year we can’t have that big day out. But we can still do a lot in our own places, for our own fitness and health and most especially for the hundreds of great causes the women of Cork assist through this event every year.”

It is free to register for the event, at theechominimarathon.ie

The distance is 6km and you can complete that in your own way, either by walking, running or jogging. When you are registering you will have the option to purchase a souvenir medal and race number, to be posted to you.

We are encouraging participants to keep the spirit of the event alive, while adhering to all government guidelines regarding public safety and social distancing.

If you want to do it in the traditional location, there is a billboard at the usual finish line in Kennedy Park, Ballintemple. Make sure to take a picture, there or wherever you are doing it, and share your photographs with us, across all social media platforms. Use the hashtag #6KYourWay or #theechominimarathon.

Results can be uploaded via the results portal and a certificate of completion can be downloaded. If you can’t complete your 6K today, no problem, you can also do it anytime up until September 27.
