Plans for almost 50 apartments on Cork's Model Farm Road

A PLANNING application for 48 apartments has been submitted for a site in Cork city which has been the subject of numerous applications over the last number of years.

Dan O’Brien has applied for permission for the site at Riverside Farm, Model Farm Road for the third time since 2015.

Initially, permission was granted conditionally for the demolition of disused farm buildings in 2016, and the construction of 11 houses and 24 apartments in two three-storey blocks.

That application included undercroft car parking, landscaping and amenity areas including a riverside amenity walk.

Then a further application was conditionally granted for modifications to the previous one, which sought an additional floor and an additional eight apartments on the permitted blocks, which would have increased the units on the site from 35 to 43.

Now, Dan O’Brien has applied for permission to construct 48 apartments in one four storey block at Riverside Farm, Model Farm Road, Cork.

The proposed apartments will replace the apartments previously permitted under Cork City Council.

A decision is due on this latest development from Cork City Council’s planning department on May 25.

Separately, conditional permission has been granted for a housing development in Cork city.

Lascara Limited have been given the green light for a change of use of premises on Watercourse Road.

The development in question will see the change of use of six existing ground floor retail units, and one office unit, to eleven apartments.

There will be seven one bed-apartments, and four two-bed apartments at units 1-3 The Courtyards and units 6-9 The Plaza City Square, Watercourse Road, Cork.

The proposed development makes provision for the subdivision of the retail office unit, at 3, The Courtyards, to provide three residential units, and the sub-division of retail units 6-9 The Plaza to provide six residential units.

The application has been granted by Cork City Council subject to 15 conditions.
