Cork coffee shop Joe's+Bros deliver hundreds of lunches to frontline staff

An independent coffee shop in Cork has exceeded its fundraising target in a matter of days after being met with overwhelming support in its mission to feed the frontline.

Joe’s + Bros, best known for their brunch menu and coffee, collaborated with Swyft Energy to fundraise for those working on the frontline during the current crisis.

The Feeding the Frontline fundraiser received over €5,000 in donations within 24 hours of being live and now stands at almost €7,000.

Staff members prepared and delivered hundreds of lunches to hospitals yesterday and are continuing to deliver to the frontline emergency services today with 1,000 people expected to be fed this week.

Owners of the coffee shop have now launched a ‘Feeding the Cocooners’ initiative which is being rolled out on Easter Sunday.

Staff will prepare roast dinners for take away on Easter Sunday for elderly people who are cocooning as per the latest restrictions announced by the government.

The free dinners will be prepared to order at its Gillabbey Street location and will be available for collection.

Easter Sunday diners will also be provided to Edel House Cork who provide emergency accommodation to homeless women and children. 

Joe’s+Bros have aslo joined forces with Cork company Poster Displays Cork who will be donating the funds raised from its prints to the ‘Feeding the Frontline’ fundraiser.

The company is responsible for the ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’ posters which can now be seen on billboards across Cork.

Joe’s + Bros opened its doors in Gillabbey Street, a stone throw away from UCC, back in 2017.

Following on from the success of the coffee shop, evident in the queues of students who lined the street to nab a table, owners Joe Dowling , Colm Liston and Cyprien Jouve opened a second outlet in Winthrop Arcade on Oliver Plunkett Street last year.
