ON THEIR TRAVELS: Ciarán O Mahony and Niamh Hasner

A young Cork couple who converted a van so they could travel around Ireland and Europe appear on Nationwideon RTÉ1 next Friday at 7pm.

Presenter Anne Cassin hears how they shared their journey on social media, inspiring others to do the same, in the programme, first aired in 2024.

Niamh Hasner and Ciarán O Mahony transformed their passion for travel into a way of life. This dynamic duo, known on TikTok as Two Peas in a Van, documented their entire journey — from the van’s transformation to their breathtaking road trips — inspiring others to do the same.

Also in the episode, Marian Malone meets a Tipperary couple who have danced at many local dance halls and are now undertaking a journey by camper van, to halls around the country.

Meanwhile the episode of Nationwide on Wednesday at 7pm hears stories of two women who are trail-blazers in their fields. Aghogho Okpara has finally realised her dream of becoming a medical doctor. After five unsuccessful attempts, she persevered and secured her place on the sixth try, going on to complete her medical degree at UCD.

Next, the Nationwide team meet a legendary GAA player from Ballybricken in County Limerick. Pauline McCarthy’s career spans over 50 years and she still togs out for camogie and football.
