They may have had their first date in the Kingdom, but Millstreet woman Eileen O’Sullivan and her husband Padraig Barrett, from Causeway in Kerry, have made Cork their home.

The couple had their first date in Killarney seven years ago. Love blossomed, and today Eileen and Padraig live in Millstreet with their three children: Jack (4), Rían (2) and Caolán (10 months).

“The Kerryman is delighted to be living in Cork,” said Eileen.

It was at their home that Padraig proposed in December, 2023, when the couple were sitting down watching a film together.

In August, they were joined by their family and closest friends when they tied the knot at a bespoke humanist ceremony at the Kenmare Bay Hotel and Resort.

“Our little boys bring us so much joy and we were delighted to have them included in our big day,” the couple said.

They were supported on the day by maid of honour, Bridget O’Riordan, and bridesmaids Tracey Lynch, Louise Twomey, and Grace Lynch.

Best man was Dara O’Halloran, and the groomsmen were Kieran Barrett, Paul O’Grady, and Tomas Boyle.

Page boys were Jack, Rían and Tadgh, while Robyn was the flower girl.

The bride sourced her Sophia Tolli gown from Virginia’s Bridal in Limerick.

Make-up was by Gina O Donovan of Head To Toe salon, while hair was by Lynsey O’Leary.

The tuxedos were supplied by Simply Suits.

Rev Brenda O’Grady was the celebrant at the ceremony while music was by Danny Goggin.

“Our ceremony was lovely and personalised and we got to include our children in the sand ceremony,” the couple said.

After the ceremony, Eileen and Padraig held a reception for their guests at the hotel.

“Our first dance was to Amazed, performed by The Kelt Band, Millstreet. The Kelt Band were superb on the day.

“We also had BMG Sound dj’ing who also kept people entertained,” they added.

The couple were full of praise for those who played a part in the day, from the hotel staff “who couldn’t have been more helpful” on the morning of their wedding to their various suppliers.

“We couldn’t praise our suppliers enough, they really were exceptional and made the day very enjoyable,” they said.
