House price inflation has hit a ten-year high, property website Daft.ie announced last week.

Prices rose by an average of 3% nationwide in the second quarter of 2025, its House Price Report revealed.

In Cork city, prices rose 8.6% to an average €369,938, while they are an average €325,999 in Cork county.

However, there are still bargains to be had out there, even if you might need to roll up the sleeves and do a little work on the property. I found six homes on sale in Cork city and county for around the €200,000 mark.

1. 1, Glencree Crescent, Mayfield, €195,000

This three-bedroom, one-bathroom family home is ready to move into - the seller looked after it with love and care, so you can pretty much drop in your bags.

There’s a lot of bonuses with this home. Firstly, there is a green area to the left of it for the children to play in, and more importantly, be within view, and there’s a large parking area to the front, and off-street parking.

The bus is within a stone’s throw, Supervalu is a four-minute stroll through the estate, with schools and other shops close by.

And with the M8 close and within view of the North Ring Road, you’ll never be late for work again!

Inside, there’s a huge hallway, an inviting, homely kitchen and bright and airy front room. Upstairs there’s three bedrooms and a bathroom. The back yard has a patio and shed, but it wouldn’t take much to turn this private enclave into a gardener’s dream.

You might need to tip over the €200,000 mark to land it.

2. Curraraigue, Banteer, Co Cork, €180,000

This three-bedroom, one-bathroom detached home sits between Banteer and Millstreet.

The power of the bungalow should never be underestimated, as, for anyone with mobility issues or just creaky knees, it can be the perfect retirement pad or downsizer.

The property comes with a huge back yard and a couple of sturdy outbuildings with potential perhaps as an office. Or maybe you can create a garden paradise here.

The other big selling point is the light. Every room has it streaming through. You also have privacy, but with the added bonus of neighbours at either side.

It might need some modernisation with regard to the décor, but it boasts a new, modern kitchen, two large reception rooms and a back room that could easily be turned into another bedroom or an office.

The back garden is huge and could lend itself to a patio under an awning with barbecue area, or maybe an extension would be your thing.

The home sits in the centre of town, with the Riverview shopping Centre adjacent.

With three storeys and a large garden, the possibilities are endless in this well-placed home.

Don’t let the front fool you! Inside is a lovely sitting room and modern kitchen. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and the bathroom.

This house is ready to move into; all you need are a few window boxes to get you started!

It’s a stones throw for the centre of town, in a quiet cul de sac.

There’s side access on both sides and the property is smack bang in the middle of Enniskeane, so it could also be an investment as a rental property.
