TV show puts spotlight on West Cork soccer club

Louise Quinn, who has just retired from football, appears on Total Football.

One of Ireland’s newest football clubs, Beara United only began competing in the West Cork League in 2020.

Since then, the Castletownbere club has expanded its men’s and women’s teams, and increased in importance in the community.

In the next episode of Total Football on RTÉ2 Saturday at 10am, there is a report on Beara United, plus we meet WSL stars Louise Quinn - who has just announced her retirement from football - and Lucy Quinn, Ireland star Ruesha Littlejohn is in the studio, and there is a report from the Men’s National Team camp.

Elsewhere in TV sport, the live Premier League action kicks off with Southampton v Manchester City on Premier Sports at 3pm on Saturday, followed by Bournemouth v Aston Villa on Sky at 5.30pm.

Newcastle United v Chelsea is live on TNT Sports Sunday at noon, followed by a Sky double bill of Nottingham Forest v Leicester City at 2.15pm, and Liverpool v Arsenal at 4.30pm.

The matches between Aston Villa v Tottenham at 7.45pm and Chelsea and Manchester United at 8pm are live on Sky next Friday.

The second golf major of the year tees off next Thursday - the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Golf and Country Club live on Sky. Can Rory McIlroy follow up his dramatic Masters victory with another momentous win?

In rugby, the URC match between Leinster and Zebre is on Premier Sports on Saturday at 5.15pm.

In GAA, The Saturday Game Live on RTÉ2 shows Galway v Wexford in the Leinster Hurling Championship at 3.15pm and Armagh v Donegal in the Ulster Football Final at 5.25pm. There is a double bill of hurling on GAAPlus on Saturday - Antrim v Dublin at 4pm and Clare v Tipperary at 6pm.

Meath v Louth in the Leinster Football Final is on The Sunday Game Live at 4.15pm.
