Donna Forde and Kevin Daly, both from Greenmount, met during a rehearsal of a Harry Potter themed play.

And they embraced the fantasy genre with their recent Game of Thrones themed wedding.

Donna, a dog-walker and home boarder, and Kevin, a games designer, first got together six years ago and got engaged at The Mills Inn in Ballyvourney on December 15, 2023.

They were married at a civil ceremony at the Maryborough House Hotel on October 20, 2024.

The couple were supported on the day by their closest friends and family, including the bride’s foster parents Helen and John O’Connor, biological parents Sandra and Jim Forde, the bride’s brother and sister and extended family, and Kevin’s parents John and Catherine Daly, his brother Jason and fiancée Annemarie, and extended family.

‘The whole day was perfect,” said the couple of their special day.

Members of the bridal party included Donna’s eldest niece Holly Jones, who was her maid of honour, her cousin Kaighley Britton, and friends Lyn O’Farrell and Aishling Parsons.

Kevin’s brother Jason was his best man while his groomsmen were Dorain Larson, Ger Lewsley and Graham Ryan.

Donna’s nieces Belle and Ellen Jones served as flower girls while her nephew Jack Corcoran was her page boy and ring-bearer.

The couple’s dogs Lexi and Louie were also in attendance.

The couple said their throne, from Momentum Event Hire, helped them feel like King and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

The bride wore an off-the-shoulder mermaid gown with beading and gold embroidery.

“We originally wanted to go for Game of Thrones style clothes but couldn’t find any that didn’t look cheap,” said Donna.

The couple ensured their theme featured in the wording of their ceremony and in the music and decor on the day.

“We always knew we wanted the cake to be themed and we were turned down by so many as we were told it was too detailed until we found Tracy at Trace of Cakes on Instagram, who made this amazing five-tier Game of Thrones work of art, despite having never seen the show. It was hand-painted and carved to perfection and tasted amazing,” Donna added.
