TELL us about yourself;
I’m Thomas Heising, I work with Visual Science Communication here in Ireland. I have a background in geology and anthropology which fits perfectly with my strong curiosity for our natural world and society.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Denmark, but have now lived in Cork for six years.
Family?
I have family spread all over the world.
Best friend?
All my friends are the best!
Earliest childhood memory?
Looking at convective clouds drifting over my parents’ apartment.

Anyone who has an open mind when it comes to our natural environment or sustainable solutions for life on our planet.

Last memorable holiday was spending a cold January week in a cottage in Kerry all by myself.
Favourite TV programme?
I don’t really watch anything on TV nor Netflix.
Favourite radio show?
None.
Your signature dish if cooking?
Hard to choose. A fan of ugali/nshima from Subsaharan Africa with a good stew and relish, but also love a broad range of East Asian-inspired cuisine.

Life In Ireland, by Conor W. O’Brien.

More nature.

Nature and friendliness.

As someone who spoke out against oppression and environmental destruction.

Working on a large science communication protect and keeping myself busy with community work.
I’m looking forward to giving a Geoheritage Walking Tour on Cork Heritage Open Day on Saturday, August 17!
The Cork City Geoheritage walking tour is the result of three years of working with Cork’s geology and history. The knowledge and content were created by Dr Aude Cincotta and myself, and funded by Geological Survey Ireland.
The foundation of both the city and the county shows evidence of massive changes in Earth’s landscape and ecology.
Join the walking tour on Cork Heritage Open Day on Saturday, August 17 at 12pm to find out more. It starts at the entrance of Cork City Hall facing Anglesea Street. All you need is your curiosity, a bottle of water, and your smartphone.
