16, Presentation Road, Gurranabraher, is in a sought-after area and up for €250,000.
JUST minutes from the city centre, and with a wonderful community spirit, the Knocknaheeny and Hollyhill area is an ideal place to call home.
The locality has a supermarket, dentist, schools, pharmacy, library, and a wonderful community centre.
All amenities are pretty much within walking distance, and as it is an older part of the city suburbs, there are plenty of green areas for play and leisure. The number 202 and 202A buses run regularly here.
In my latest look at properties currently for sale in Cork, I visited four in this city area.
1. 6, Meadow Drive, The Meadows, Cork city, €269,950k
This is a gorgeous three-bedroom and three-bathroom home in a quiet area. It has a modern aspect with lovely black railing at the front and room for two cars in the drive.
The area is spotlessly clean and far enough from the hustle and bustle to offer a quiet refuge from city life.
It’s only a four-minute walk from Apple and a stroll to St Mary’s on the Hill primary and creche.
The home is a fine size at 101m2. The modern look of the outside is carried through the interior and the finish is superb. There is nothing that needs attention in the home.
Beautiful floors, bright rooms and a kitchen second to none. Sharp and clean lines are carried through to the garden, with a lovely patio area and plenty of space and privacy. The BER is a very impressive B2.

2. 120, Ardcullen, Hollyhill, Co. Cork, €235,000
This three-bedroom and one-bathroom property is in a very pretty location, on a large corner site on a tree-lined avenue.
You are greeted by a beautiful garden with a lovely large tree offering shade and beauty in abundance. Perfectly manicured hedges and lovely black wrought iron gates finish the pristine look on arrival.
The homes here are very well kept with established gardens and absolutely no litter to be seen.
A two-minute stroll sees you at the community garden, and another two minutes sees you at the village centre with all the amenities on hand.
This home has been loved and cared for, evident in the classic features and clean, fresh white walls, interior glass doors and warm, inviting rooms. This home is an oasis of calm.
For me, 120 Ardcullen is a little piece of heaven!

3. Monastery Avenue, Blarney Road, Gurranabraher, Cork, €285,000
This three-bedroom and two-bathroom property also has a second downstairs living room that could be used as a fourth bedroom.
There have been new floors laid and the home has been repainted.
With Apple moments away and the city a few minutes by car or bus, this could be an attractive buy as an investment.
Or, with the local schools, shops, library and other amenities on the doorstep, it could be a perfect family home. There is a fine size split level garden at the back which could be ideal for adding a patio, barbecue, or green play area.
A well-built home from McInerney in 2001/2002 with a BER of C2.

4. 16 Presentation Road, Gurranabraher, €250,000
This three-bedroom and one-bathroom property is in a very much sought after area. In fact, homes here don’t stay on the estate agents’ books for long!
With the primary care centre, schools, Credit Union, church and shops all on the doorstep, it has everything a family needs.
This home has a lovely green area at the front and is on the number 202 bus route. It’s a 5-minute drive to Apple. As with many homes built in the 1950s, it has a large back garden. The décor needs modernising and there is off-street parking.
For me, the winning feature in this property is the back garden, south- facing and just begging to be landscaped with a patio, or even extending the sitting room or kitchen with a sunroom. This house could be a beautiful family home.
It is ready to move into and redecorating could be achieved going room by room to save on the budget.
