Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m Muriel Foley. I’m 33 and own a digital marketing consultancy based in Cork but serving clients globally (thanks to Zoom!). I am currently living in Killeagh and on the house hunt in East Cork so if you’re selling your house, have your people call my people!

I’ve been working in the digital marketing space for over 12 years and love every minute of it.

What is your ideal way to spend a Friday night?

Friday nights can vary to be honest. You can’t beat a glass (or seven) of a good red wine after a busy week! If I’m going for dinner and drinks or going out with friends, I prefer to do it on a Friday because you’re guaranteed to be fresh when Sunday rolls around.

If I don’t have any commitments, I do like to just chill out on a Friday with Netflix and salty snacks. Heaven!

Lie-ins or up with the lark.. which is it for you?

I love getting up early. I feel so guilty when I stay in bed in the morning. I prefer to have productive mornings/afternoons and more sloth-like evenings at the weekend.

Does work creep into your weekend at all?

Yes. Not in an overwhelming way but when you own your own businesses, it’s hard to not do a little bit of admin at the weekend. In fact, my headspace is much better when I do a little bit of work over the weekend.

Even if it’s just organising the week ahead or scheduling emails for Monday, it takes the pressure off a bit and removes the Glenroe theme song feeling on the Sunday night!

That being said, I make a conscious effort to reduce my screen time at the weekend so I usually avoid scrolling, especially on a Saturday.

If money was no object where would you head to on a weekend city break? And who would you bring with you?

If money was no object, I would set up a private weekend festival in Lake Garda in Italy. Have all of my favourite musicians and stand-ups on the line-up and treat my family and close friends to a an epic weekend of music, amazing food and fab memories.

Closer to home, is there some place you like to head to recharge the batteries?

I am completely being biased and I don’t care but Youghal strand with the boardwalk is my place to go to charge my batteries. It’s a stone’s throw from home and it just makes me feel calm when I go there.

Do you like to catch up with family/friends at the weekend?

Yes, now it does require a lot of planning when it comes to my friends! A lot of us have weddings, birthdays, christenings, etc, so you’d nearly have to schedule a coffee and a walk months in advance.

Do you get to indulge any hobbies? Even as a spectator?

I do like to get outside and walk - whether it’s in a wood, by the sea, a hike, you name it. I’ll walk anywhere! Now, when the GAA league and championship starts, I make my plans around the matches! No way am I missing the clash of the ash!

Entertain or be entertained? If it’s the latter do you have a signature dish?

I honestly cannot wait to be a homeowner (remember, have your people call my people!). I love to host and entertain. I am a ‘picky bits’ feeder so I’ll have the table covered in all of the nicest meats, cheeses, breads, olives, etc. People can graze away all night then!

We have so many places to eat out in Cork, where are your go to spots for coffee/lunch/special meal?

An oat cappuccino from Alchemy has never let me down. I also love the fish tacos from the Good Day Deli or a toastie, soup and a pint of Guinness from Long Valley!

Sunday night comes around too fast.. how do you normally spend it?

Replaying the Glenroe song in my head while eating Pad Thai and editing my podcast, Simplifying Success.

What time does your alarm clock go off on Monday morning?

I don’t have a set wake-up time for Mondays. I have started to have slower Monday mornings to ease into the week and it works wonders for my headspace.
