A MEDIEVAL castle in Croatia provided the backdrop for a romantic wedding proposal.

Emer Griffin and Anthony McCarthy were married this summer. Emer is from inniscarra and Anthony is from Crossbarry. They now live in Farran.

They took part in our Wedding of the Week.

The couple met in Bruce College and were very good friends for three years before they started going out in 2016.

They were engaged in July last year at the Fortica Fortress, in Hvar, Croatia.

They got married in St Senan’s Church Cloghroe, followed by a wedding reception in the Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, on July 14.

The couple had some stunning wedding photographs taken by Dermot Sullivan by the waterside, on their special day.

The bride said: “We woke up to torrential rain on the morning of the wedding, however, just as I was getting ready to leave the house the rain stopped and during the ceremony we could see the sun beginning to shine and from then on the day was beautiful.”

The bride’s dress was from Bella Bleu Bridal in Cork city, by the Irish designer Edwina O’Gorman. Accessories from Rosie and Dott and shoes were from Next. The bridesmaid dresses were from Coast. Anthony, his groomsmen and both dads wore suits and shoes from Simply Suits in Cork.

Mary T (powderandplait on instagram) did make-up, and Dana (hairstyles_by_Dana on instagram) did hair.
