A PROPOSAL on Westminster Bridge in London led to the wedding of this couple.

Jennifer Leslie and Patrick Barry have lived in Rathcormac for the past eight years. Jennifer is originally from Ballyvolane and Patrick is from Mitchelstown. They met through Jennifer’s sister Sarah.

Jennifer explained: “She and Patrick had worked together before and he happened to call to her house as she’d had a baby at the time and Patrick went to see the new baby, I happened to be in the house at the time.

We met about three weeks later at Patrick’s uncle’s party, who also happens to live next door to my sister, and we’ve been together ever since.

The couple got engaged last year, on July 31, in London on Westminster Bridge.

They were married in their local church in Rathcormac on August 6, 2023.

The bride bought her wedding dress in Memories bridal boutique in Cork.

“It happened to be the first dress I tried on that day, I did try on others but none of them made me feel as happy as the dress I picked,” said Jennifer.

“It had a very Victorian style to it and was fitted and lace and ivory.”

Hair was by local hairdresser Sinead and make-up was done by Maria at Allure Beauty.

Maids of Honour were Jennifer’s sister Sarah and best friend Maria. Best man were Patrick’s brother Richie and his best friend Patrick.

Jennifer said: “We were blessed that we could share this day with our two beautiful children, Cillian and Luke, Cillian is seven and Luke aged one.

It was wonderful having them be a part of our special day.

The happy couple.

The couple had their wedding reception at the Oriel House.

“The main person we dealt with there was Beatrice and she was absolutely amazing. We had the most perfect day and the care was outstanding,” said Jennifer.

They sourced their cake from Ruairi’s Kitchen. Band was the Buachaills, who had people dancing all night. The flowers were by Jimmy in Fermoy. Bianconi Cars provided transport for the day. For their first dance they picked Songs Of Love by the Divine Comedy.

As to the most memorable thing about the day: “There was no-one thing in particular, everything was fantastic, but we did enjoy the time alone in the wedding car after the church. Our photographer’s name was Ted Murphy, he was excellent, kept everyone calm, was very patient while taking pictures and took some amazing shots. We also had a videographer whose name was Liam.”
