THEY met at their church youth group in Cork ten years ago and this summer Gosia Szlapka and Fletcher Fynn tied the knot.
The couple live in St Luke’s, Cork city, and first set eyes on each other at the Cork Church youth group, a decade ago. They started dating six years ago.
Gosia, aged 24, is working as an analytical chemist in a pharmaceutical company. Originally from Zielona Gora in Poland, she moved to Ireland 12 years ago.
While Fletcher, aged 25, from Durban, South Africa, moved to Ireland in 2001 and works as a Selling Partner Associate in a multi-national company.
They got engaged on the 35th floor of London Sky Gardens in October, 2018, and had their wedding ceremony and reception at the Midleton Park Hotel on September 1. The ceremony was carried out by the pastors from their church.
The bride got her dress in Rice ’n’ Roses in Donnybrook, while the groom’s suit was from ‘Suit Select’ in Tralee, where the bride’s family lives.
The groomsmen suits were from Morleys on Grand Parade and the bridesmaids’ dresses were purchased online.
The bride’s hair and makeup was done by Karolina Wichniewicz @carolinamua87, who did a great job creating a very delicate and beautiful look.
Eight members of the bride’s family travelled over from Poland, as well as parents and siblings from Tralee. The groom’s family travelled from Germany, Netherlands, South Africa and closer to home in Galway and Douglas to be with them on this special day.
Recalling the day, the couple said: “The ceremony was very special to us because it focused on our faith in God and our love for one another and all the guests present.”
The day was made stress-free thanks to their families and the bridal party and the staff at Midleton Park Hotel.
The hotel was beautifully decorated, with an arch and fairy light backdrop from ‘To Have and to Hold’, while ‘Ace Entertainment’ supplied the couple with a love sign, flower wall and Ferrero Rocher heart.
There was also high praise for Laura & Benny photography, for their great work in capturing the day. DJ Mark Cosgrove was equally ‘brilliant’.
The couple chose 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran as their first dance.
As to what was the most memorable thing about the day?
“The outpouring of love we received from all of our guests!” they said.
