Trigon Hotels has been awarded the Gold Standard by the Menopause Hub in the latest Menopause Workplace Excellence Accreditation.

The accolade recognises organisations which have committed to supporting women experiencing the often challenging symptoms of menopause.

Trigon Hotels introduced a menopause strategy in 2023 to help female team members going through the menopause to feel supported in the workplace. The strategy was based on the findings of a workplace audit which resulted in menopause training for all senior teams.

Team members are encouraged to speak to either their line manager or HR in confidence. They will discuss whatever adjustments are necessary to ensure they have a comfortable and safe working environment including measurements such as adequate ventilation and air quality, rest areas, and flexible working arrangements.

The Menopause Hub conducted a comprehensive audit that covered policy development, workplace supports, and practices along with overall awareness.

Trigon Hotels was then awarded the highest recognition for their commitment to supporting team members through clear policies, practical supports, and a culture that encourages open conversation about the menopause.

Kathleen Linehan, strategic director of HR at Trigon Hotels, said: “We have worked incredibly hard to devise a policy that supports all of our female team members who are experiencing the often challenging symptoms of the menopause.

“It was important to us to create an environment where women feel comfortable talking about what they’re going through and to get the assistance they need. I am so proud to get this recognition from the Menopause Hub as it is a true testament to the ongoing efforts and dedication of the entire Trigon team.

“Our menopause policy ties directly into our broader gender balance and career progression strategy. Supporting colleagues through menopause is not just about wellbeing, it is about ensuring talented women can continue to thrive, contribute, and progress in their careers without having to step back because of unmanaged symptoms.

“By embedding menopause considerations into our policies, risk assessments, and culture, we remove barriers that might otherwise limit women’s participation and advancement.”

Loretta Dignam, founder and CEO, Menopause Hub Academy, added: “Awarding Trigon Hotels our Gold Level Menopause Workplace Accreditation recognises their leadership in creating an equitable workplace where everyone can thrive. By normalising menopause and providing practical, evidence-based supports, they’re strengthening wellbeing, retention, and productivity and setting a new standard for menopause inclusivity in Irish hospitality.”
