The late Dave Bacuzzi lifts the FAI Cup in triumph after Cork Hibs defeated Waterford in 1972.

The Englishman was an integral part of a glorious era for Cork Hibs after being appointed as their player-manager, winning the league and two cups from 1970 to 1974.

He then went on to manage Home Farm, guiding them to the FAI Cup in 1975 and coaching a young Ronnie Whelan, before his departure to Liverpool.

Bacuzzi, a Londoner, started his career with Arsenal and also played for Man City and Reading.

More recently based in Sandyford in Dublin, he is mourned by his wife Eithne and children Melissa, David and Anne, as well as the legions of Irish soccer fans he inspired during his times with Hibs and Home Farm.

His death notice on RIP.ie explained his motto was:

'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.'
