EARLIER:

Cork City Fire Brigade are currently at the scene of a fire on the Old Mallow Road following reports of a vehicle fire at a factory.

Four units of Cork City Fire Brigade responded to the fire at Springgrove Services on the Old Mallow Road where a vehicle caught fire and spread to part of the building.

Second officer Victor Shine said the fire was now under control and that no major damage was done to the building and production would be fine.

Two units remain at the scene and are damping down to ensure there are no remaining hotspots.

Speaking to The Echo, third officer Gerard Ryan said units had responded to multiple other incidents across the city on Thursday.

Fire crews responded to a road traffic collision at Bowen’s Cross in Ballygarvan where minor injuries were reported and a house fire in the Deerpark area of the city where no injuries were reported.

Fire crews also responded to a medical emergency where a person collapsed near Waterstones on Paul Street.

Mr Ryan said that the person had suffered a medical issue and no serious injuries were reported.
