Crews from Cork City Fire Brigade have responded to a bin lorry fire on the Lee Road.

Four units from Anglesea St and Ballyvolane attended the scene after the alarm was raised shortly after 8am this morning.

A spokesperson for Cork City Fire Brigade told The Echo that the fire began in the rubbish compartment of the lorry.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident and the fire has been extinguished.

The road was closed for a time but has since been reopened and the vehicle has been removed.
